Building Capacity of Trans Communities in Saskatchewan
The purpose of ESSOGIE program is to advance social, political and economic equality with respect to sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression. Advancement towards a greater understanding of the intersection of sex and gender with other identity factors that include race, national and ethnic origin, Indigenous origin or identity, age, sexual orientation, socio-economic condition, place of residence and disability are encouraged under the Program. This 18-month project will strengthen the capacity and networks of TransSask Support Services Inc. to advance LGBTQ equality. This will be achieved by building managerial capacity through a strategic plan, an advocacy strategy, an outreach plan, and broad outreach and development events; increasing access to evidence, data, information, and knowledge sources through a needs assessment, a provincial survey, and interviews; and strengthening collaboration among organizations and people by hosting two provincial meetings. At the end of the project, the organization will have increased knowledge and capacity to advance equality with respect to sex, sexual orientation, gender identity and expression; and established and/or strengthened partnerships and collaborations to support the LGBTQ2 movement.
