Ending VAW: Strengthening Our Foundation, Building Our Movement

The purpose of the Women’s Program is to advance equality for women in Canada by working to address or remove systemic barriers impeding women’s progress and advancement. The WP supports the Government of Canada’s goal of advancing gender equality in Canada. It is consistent with Government of Canada priorities related to economic prosperity, and supports Canada’s international commitments related to gender equality. This 26-month project will strengthen the organizational capacity of OCTEVAW with a particular focus on communications and outreach, advocacy and revenue generation. Capacity building activities will include the development of an advocacy strategy and tool kit, a knowledge transfer strategy, a comprehensive communications strategy, and a digital media strategy. OCTEVAW will also identify and develop revenue generation strategies to ensure its long-term sustainability. The supplemental funding will be used to develop a strategic plan that integrates and centres the needs of 2SLGBTQIAS+, Black, Indigenous and People of Colour.
