Increasing Organizational Capacity for SPECTRUM's Community Space

The purpose of ESSOGIE program is to advance social, political and economic equality with respect to sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression. Advancement towards a greater understanding of the intersection of sex and gender with other identity factors that include race, national and ethnic origin, Indigenous origin or identity, age, sexual orientation, socio-economic condition, place of residence and disability are encouraged under the Program. This 12-month project will strengthen the capacity of SPECTRUM Waterloo Region's Rainbow Community Space to advance LGBTQ2 equality. This will be achieved by improving board governance; developing a strategic plan; and focusing on sustainability, succession and financial planning. The project will also increase access to evidence, data, information, and knowledge sources by performing an environmental scan to assess community needs; and will build the capacity by offering skills training as well as sensitivity training opportunities. At the end of the project, the organization will have increased knowledge and capacity to advance equality with respect to sex, sexual orientation, gender identity and expression.
