WAGE COVID- 19 Project Concept

The purpose of the Women’s Program is to advance equality for women in Canada by working to address or remove systemic barriers impeding women’s progress and advancement. The WP supports the Government of Canada’s goal of advancing gender equality in Canada. It is consistent with Government of Canada priorities related to economic prosperity, and supports Canada’s international commitments related to gender equality. This 12-month project will address capacity shortfalls and increased demand created by the COVID-19 pandemic. Specifically, this project will conduct a needs assessment and survey to identify the scale of the problem; address the community’s women’s barriers to equality and identify mechanisms to overcome these barriers; establish and continually update a bank of COVID 19 related information; train women, youth leaders and volunteers; operate an accessible communication network for the community’s people; implement labour market and employment connection supports; implement workplace health and safety educational supports; provide access to economic and social supports; provide health information services activities; provide direct aid and relief services; implement networking, partnership and advocacy activities; and conduct project evaluation.

Women and stakeholders have access to supports to address issues relating to equality between women and men.
